Open Rehearsals Begin Tuesday, June 12
The sounds of the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus come alive on Tuesday through Fridays at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion when the Festival is in season. Each summer, more than 23,000 Chicagoans and visitors spend their lunch break watching rehearsals and listening to docent-led talks about the Festival's concert programs.
The docents, an all-volunteer force, devote many hours learning about the music featured in each program and expanding their knowledge of the Festival to ensure that even repeat visitors come away from our Open Rehearsals learning something new. This year, Carlos Kalmar and pre-concert lecture host and music expert Seth Boustead led exclusive workshops to help the docents enhance their lunchtime talks, which take place midway through the rehearsal.
Typical Rehearsal Schedule
- Tuesdays from 11:30-1:30 and 3-5:30
- Wednesdays from 11-1:30
- Thursdays from 10:30-1
- Fridays from 11-1:30
A special Brown Bag Lunch docent interview with Christopher Bell takes place on Thursday, June 21 at approximately 11:30 AM.
